Heidi Rix, Chief Executive Officer

Heidi is TPG’s Chief Executive Officer, based in our Wellington office.   

Joining TPG in 2019, Heidi is a specialist in the corporate and investment property environment with over 23 years’ experience in corporate real estate, financial and risk management across many countries within listed, private, government and local authority environments across office, retail, industrial, utilities, infrastructure, hospitality, residential and corporate accommodation sectors.

Heidi’s core skills include financial management, innovation and efficiencies management, corporate advisory, property investment and development, site suitability and due diligence, portfolio analysis and structuring, property acquisitions and disposals, development management, corporate accommodation solutions, asset management, property management, risk analysis and mitigation, client engagement and relationship management.

Heidi and her family relocated to New Zealand in 2019 from Mauritius, where Heidi was the Chief Operating Officer/Group General Manager for the Grit Real Estate Income Group (Grit). Prior to her position at Grit, Heidi held the position of Managing Director Investor Services for the Broll Property Group in South Africa.

Nick May, Chief Operating Officer

Nick is TPG’s Chief Operating Officer based in our Wellington office.

Nick has over 20 years of experience in senior consulting, operational, and commercial roles across a number of business sectors, including property, retail, logistics and banking.

Nick has particular experience in operational management, business planning, procurement, general property advisory and acquisition and disposal projects for private companies, Crown agencies, and Local Authorities.

Sam Cottier, Head of Commercial

Sam is TPG’s Head of Commercial, based in our Wellington office.

Joining TPG in 2010, Sam has over 20 years’ experience in the property industry, both overseas and in New Zealand. Starting his career as a lawyer in London, working as a commercial property solicitor in a large multi-national firm. Whilst in London, Sam worked for a number of publicly listed property clients, acting on their behalf in a variety of areas including acquisition, disposal, and management of some of their key property assets.

Upon returning to New Zealand in 2002, Sam spent time at both Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) as a portfolio manager in the Crown Property Management department and as a land development manager on new energy projects at Meridian. Sam demonstrates enormous drive, commitment, and passion for understanding and identifying clients’ needs and delivering value-added solutions for clients.

Sam played a pivotal role in managing TPG’s relationship with the Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA). He also managed TPG’s involvement in the Crown’s Christchurch Central Development Unit commercial property acquisition programme.

Sam also serves as an Executive Director on the TPG Board.

Andrew Macleod, Director of Planning

Andrew is TPG’s Director of Planning, based in our Wānaka office. He oversees TPG’s RMA Planning service nationally.

Andrew joined TPG in 2013 with a background in Resource Management Act (RMA) and public policy matters, bringing over twenty years of experience working in New Zealand and Australia as a consultant and in local government.

Andrew has overseen the growth of RMA planning as a core service line within TPG, with over thirty planners now spread across our national office network.

Andrew also oversees TPG’s Urban Regeneration service and serves as an Executive Director on the TPG Board.

James Clareburt, Group General Counsel

James is Group General Counsel based at TPG’s Wellington office, where he leads TPG’s nationwide legal team.

James has formed part of TPG’s senior management team since 2013. His interest areas now include TPG’s corporate and governance matters as well as business development and client relationship roles. He also remains active as a senior strategic advisor, providing specialist support, skills, and legal advice on property and land law related issues. In conjunction with the other members of the legal team, James brings a high level of expertise and technical ability in legal areas relating to TPG’s core business. James has particular specialist skills in dealing with Public Works Act 1981 (PWA) matters.

James has 26 years’ experience in advising public sector clients and has developed extensive expertise in land and property law in this area. James provides valuable support to TPG’s nationwide operations and is able to apply a variety of legal skills in property and land law. James’ expertise and experience has seen him invited to be a stakeholder adviser to Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) in revising their Crown Property Standards in 2005, 2009 and 2014 and 2023.
