New drinking water reservoir for Napier Council
Client: Napier City Council
Napier City Council (NCC) has successfully bought the old hospital site on Mataruahou (Napier Hill) from Templeton Group for $11.35 million to be used as a new drinking water supply reservoir.
The development is projected to be completed by 2024 and it will hugely benefit the community. It also represents an opportunity for Council to work with local mana whenua and maintains the role of the site as a Local Government’s infrastructure asset.
TPG supported the Council in acquiring the land, which is a site of significance to Napier and sits between the city's port and CBD shopping district. Our involvement with this project was to review, identify and analyse potential sites suitable for the reservoir.
Our team worked collaboratively with the Council to assist in concluding an agreement to acquire the Council’s preferred site. Our continued work with local government, and three water infrastructure strategies, is supporting the successful delivery of safe drinking water to the Napier region.
