Gore District Council’s Proposed District Plan, South Island
Client: Gore District Council
Gore District Council’s (Council) Proposed District Plan (PDP), set to be notified at the end of August 2023, allows for local industry and growth needs while covering a range of natural, heritage, and cultural values relevant to the district.
Working in collaboration with Council and Hokonui Rūnanga, for two years (2021 and 2023), TPG developed the comprehensive district plan that covers a broad range of issues and opportunities and reflects the latest national policy direction, which councils across New Zealand must align with.
Services provided by TPG:
Planning - the South Island Planning team led the project involving writing the PDP, coordinating technical input and facilitating community consultation. The PDP is also supported by a comprehensive s32 (cost benefit) and s35 (effectiveness and efficiency) analysis.
Urban Regeneration - provided an assessment of the districts growth needs, assisted with Outline Development Plans for future growth areas, identified Gore as an “Urban Environment” and undertook regular reporting required by the National Policy Statement for Urban Development. The team also undertook design modeling to ensure proposed built form standards provided for a range of suitable housing typologies and densities.
GIS Solutions - a GIS platform was created to assist with analysing the district and site constraints and opportunities and produced the PDP maps.
We all look forward to progressing this project through the submissions and hearing phases later in 2023 and 2024.
