Brook Street properties purchase, Nelson

TPG undertook the purchase of Brook Street properties affected by slip from public land, following the Nelson severe rainfall event in August 2022.

Nelson City Council engaged TPG to negotiate and complete these property purchases on behalf of Council. Council committed to proceed with the buyouts, following the conclusion that there was no reasonable or cost-effective way for Council to remediate these slips to an acceptable level.

Working closely with Nelson City Council, TPG completed the purchase of 10 properties within just 6 months. Completing these purchases in such a timely manner, meant that property owners were able to move on with their lives, and Council had the comfort that these property owners were no longer at risk, if there was to be another significant weather event.
